The Best RockyRoad … for now

  • Edy’s Rocky Road Ice Cream - William Dreyer and Joseph Edy create Rocky Road ice cream in 1929. Current parent Company: Nestle.

  • A chocolate base that beautifully holds the space for crunchy almonds and turgid just-the-right-size marshmallows. The melt rate supports a lovely reveal of the ample add-ins that never disappoint. I am still trying to figure out what a single serving of Edy’s RR is .

When you can’t go camping …

  • Name: Campfire S’Mores

VanLeeuwen’s summertime flavor has all the right ingredients: marshmellow, chocolate and grahams.

  • Are the marshmellows toasted? No, the flavor of the ice cream is toasted marshmellow. Definitely missed the turgid chewiness of the white fluff. Wish the chocolate was more of a melted Hersey Bar vibe. Okay - why pretend to mock a S’more. Why?

Fantasy Ice Cream …. Did they serve ice cream on the Titanic?

  • Could you imagine an ice cream that looks like this? What would it’s flavor composition be? (See mine, below in the review, and … please share yours)

  • Name: Iceberg Icecream

Flavor Comp: Ice shavings, salt, tastes fishy. Goes well with Violin music.

“Lousy food … crummy serices … dinky cabins .. and that’s only the tip of the iceberg!” ~ Larson

  • Name: Honeycomb.

Van Leeuwen French Ice Cream. Founded in Brooklyn in 2008. “Good-Good, Not Good-Bad”. To make good ice cream that makes you feel good.

  • No honey, there is no honey is this ice cream … and, there is something just as good - Honeycomb. That crunchy caramel wisp of a confection. Combine that with the smooth, eggy, cream - and it is like a 5 minute vacation. Oh-la-la!

I like the heat … but get it out of my kitchen -8/10.

  • Name: Aztec Chocolate

Marco Sweets & Spices makes travel-inspired, craft ice creams using diverse ingredients and flavors. Founded in 1979. Have I been living under a rock?

  • I must say that the first bite was delicious, savory and full of subtle heat that turned into cinnamon chocolate embers. However, subsequent bits were not strong enough to sustain the flavor profile. Which makes this a great diet ice cream - one tablespoon at a time!
